Forge Life LLC (“ForgeTag,” “Forge,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain, and protect personal information when you use forgetag.com, activate or register a ForgeTag, report an item you have found, shop through our website, contact customer support, or otherwise use our websites and lost-and-found services (collectively, the “Services”).
This Privacy Policy applies both to people who register or own ForgeTags (“Owners”) and people who use ForgeTag to report found property (“Finders”).
1. The Most Important Thing for Finders to Know
ForgeTag is designed to help a Finder establish contact with the registered Owner of a lost item without publishing the Owner’s personal contact information on the physical tag.
When a Finder submits a found-item form, the Finder may provide an email address and message.
The Finder’s submitted email address and message are sent to the registered Owner of the applicable ForgeTag.
By submitting the form, the Finder authorizes this disclosure.
The Owner may then choose to contact the Finder directly using the Finder’s email address.
ForgeTag does not provide an in-platform chat or direct messaging thread between the Finder and Owner.
ForgeTag does not ordinarily disclose the Owner’s email address to the Finder merely because the Finder scans a QR code or enters a Tag ID. However, if the Owner later contacts the Finder directly using email, the Finder may naturally receive the Owner’s email address as part of that separate communication.
Finders should not submit information they do not want disclosed to the applicable Owner.
2. Personal Information We Collect
The information we collect depends on how you use the Services.
A. Owner Account and Registration Information
When you activate or register a ForgeTag, we may collect:
- your email address;
- account identifiers;
- verification and authentication information;
- Tag IDs;
- information associating a Tag with your account;
- item information you choose to provide;
- item status or recovery status; and
- other information you voluntarily submit through your account.
When you request or use an email verification code, we may also maintain records relating to the verification request, delivery, authentication attempt, timestamp, and related security information.
B. Finder Information
When you report a found item, we may collect:
- the applicable Tag ID;
- your email address;
- the message you submit to the Owner;
- the date and time of the submission; and
- technical, security, and device information associated with the submission.
A Finder does not need to create a ForgeTag account merely to submit a found-item report unless we expressly state otherwise.
C. Purchase and Transaction Information
If you purchase products through our website, we or our ecommerce and payment service providers may collect information such as:
- name;
- email address;
- billing information;
- shipping address;
- order information;
- products purchased;
- transaction status; and
- information necessary to process returns, refunds, or warranty requests.
Payment card information may be collected and processed directly by our payment service providers rather than stored by ForgeTag in complete form.
D. Communications and Support Information
If you contact us, submit a support or warranty request, participate in a survey, subscribe to marketing communications, or otherwise communicate with us, we may collect:
- your name;
- email address;
- order or product information;
- the contents of your communications; and
- information you choose to provide.
E. Device, Network, and Usage Information
When you use the Services, we may automatically collect information such as:
- IP address;
- browser type;
- operating system;
- device type;
- pages viewed;
- referring and exit pages;
- date and time of access;
- approximate location derived from IP address;
- diagnostic information;
- security events;
- interactions with the Services; and
- cookie or similar technology identifiers.
We do not need precise GPS location information to provide the core ForgeTag lost-and-found contact relay service unless a specific optional feature clearly tells you otherwise.
F. Cookies and Similar Technologies
We and service providers may use cookies, pixels, local storage, and similar technologies to:
- keep the website functioning;
- remember settings;
- prevent fraud and abuse;
- understand website performance;
- analyze use of the Services; and
- where applicable, measure or personalize advertising.
Where required by law, we provide appropriate choices regarding non-essential cookies or advertising technologies.
3. Sources of Personal Information
We may obtain personal information:
- directly from you;
- from Owners;
- from Finders;
- automatically from your browser or device;
- from ecommerce, payment, fulfillment, or customer-service providers;
- from analytics and security providers;
- from retailers or partners when necessary to support a product or transaction; and
- from other sources where permitted by law.
4. How We Use Personal Information
We use personal information for purposes including:
Providing the ForgeTag Service
We use information to:
- create and manage accounts;
- verify email addresses;
- activate and register ForgeTags;
- associate Tag IDs with registered Owners;
- process found-item submissions;
- send Finder information and messages to Owners;
- send recovery notifications;
- maintain item and Tag status;
- provide customer support; and
- operate the Services.
Communicating With You
We may use your information to send:
- verification codes;
- security notices;
- account communications;
- Finder notifications;
- support responses;
- product or transaction notices;
- legal or policy notices; and
- marketing communications where permitted.
Processing Transactions
We may use information to:
- process orders and payments;
- deliver products;
- process returns and refunds;
- administer warranties;
- prevent transaction fraud; and
- maintain financial and transaction records.
Security and Abuse Prevention
We may use information to:
- authenticate users;
- detect unauthorized account access;
- prevent Tag ID enumeration or scraping;
- detect fraudulent ownership or Finder claims;
- prevent harassment, spam, abuse, and malicious activity;
- investigate security incidents; and
- protect ForgeTag, our users, and third parties.
Improving the Services
We may analyze use of the Services to:
- troubleshoot technical issues;
- measure performance;
- understand feature usage;
- improve usability;
- develop and test features; and
- maintain service reliability.
Legal and Compliance Purposes
We may use personal information to:
- comply with applicable laws;
- respond to lawful legal process;
- enforce our Terms of Service;
- protect legal rights;
- investigate suspected wrongdoing;
- establish or defend legal claims; and
- satisfy accounting, tax, regulatory, or recordkeeping requirements.
5. How We Disclose Personal Information
We may disclose personal information in the following circumstances.
A. Finder Information Disclosed to an Owner
This disclosure is a core part of ForgeTag.
When a Finder submits an email address and message relating to a Tag:
we disclose that email address and message to the registered Owner of that Tag so that the Owner can choose whether to contact the Finder and arrange the return of the property.
After that disclosure, communications initiated directly between the Owner and Finder take place outside the ForgeTag platform.
Owners may use Finder information only for legitimate purposes relating to the reported property, as described in our Terms of Service.
B. Service Providers
We may disclose information to companies that perform services for us, including providers of:
- cloud hosting;
- databases;
- email delivery;
- account authentication;
- cybersecurity;
- fraud prevention;
- ecommerce;
- payment processing;
- shipping and fulfillment;
- analytics;
- website operations; and
- customer support.
We authorize service providers to process personal information only as permitted by our agreements with them and applicable law.
C. Legal and Safety Disclosures
We may disclose information when we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to:
- comply with law, subpoena, court order, or other legal process;
- respond to lawful requests from government authorities;
- protect the rights, safety, or property of ForgeTag, our users, or others;
- investigate fraud, abuse, or security incidents;
- prevent illegal activity; or
- establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
D. Business Transactions
Personal information may be disclosed or transferred in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, restructuring, sale of assets, bankruptcy, or similar corporate transaction, subject to applicable law.
E. At Your Direction or With Your Consent
We may disclose information where you direct us to do so or otherwise consent.
6. Sale, Sharing, and Targeted Advertising
ForgeTag does not sell Finder messages or Owner account email addresses for monetary consideration.
We do not use the content of Finder messages to target advertising to Finders or Owners.
Our shopping or marketing webpages may use analytics or advertising technologies that disclose limited identifiers or internet activity information to advertising or analytics partners.
Depending on the technology used and the law of your state, certain advertising-related disclosures may be legally considered a “sale,” “sharing,” or processing for “targeted advertising” even when no money is exchanged for the personal information.
Where applicable law gives you the right to opt out of such processing, we will provide an appropriate mechanism, such as a Your Privacy Choices or similar control.
We do not knowingly sell or share for cross-context behavioral advertising the personal information of consumers we know are under 16 without the legally required authorization.
7. Data Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including to provide the Services, maintain security, resolve disputes, comply with law, and enforce our agreements.
Retention periods depend on the type of information and why we collected it.
For example:
- account and Tag registration information may be retained while the account or Tag remains active and for an appropriate period afterward;
- Finder submissions may be retained as reasonably necessary to complete the contact relay, provide support, investigate abuse, maintain security, and comply with legal obligations;
- transaction records may be retained as required for accounting, tax, warranty, fraud-prevention, and legal purposes;
- security logs may be retained for an appropriate period to detect and investigate misuse; and
- information may remain temporarily in backups after deletion from active systems.
When personal information is no longer reasonably necessary, we may delete, de-identify, or aggregate it in accordance with applicable law.
8. Your Choices and Rights
Depending on where you live and applicable law, you may have the right to:
- confirm whether we process your personal information;
- access personal information we maintain about you;
- correct inaccurate personal information;
- request deletion of personal information;
- obtain a portable copy of certain personal information;
- opt out of the sale of personal information;
- opt out of certain sharing or targeted advertising;
- opt out of certain profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects;
- limit certain uses of sensitive personal information;
- withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;

Commercial information, such as products purchased, order records, Tag registrations, and transaction information.

Approximate geolocation information, such as approximate location inferred from an IP address.
Customer records information, such as shipping or contact information where provided in connection with an order or support request.
User-provided content, such as Finder messages, support communications, item information, and other information you submit.
Inferences, if any, derived from other information for purposes such as security, fraud prevention, analytics, or understanding use of our Services.

Business or Commercial Purposes
We collect and use these categories for the purposes described in How We Use Personal Information, including providing the Services, processing transactions, communicating with users, maintaining security, preventing fraud, improving the Services, and complying with law.

Depending on the information, we may disclose these categories to:
- registered Owners receiving Finder submissions;
- cloud and infrastructure providers;
- authentication and email providers;
- payment and ecommerce providers;
- fulfillment providers;
- security and fraud-prevention providers;
- analytics and advertising providers where applicable;
- professional advisers;
- government or legal authorities where required; and
- parties to a corporate transaction.
California Rights
Subject to applicable exceptions, eligible California residents may have rights to:
- know the categories and specific pieces of personal information collected;
- know the sources and purposes of collection;
- know the categories of third parties to whom information is disclosed;
- delete personal information;
- correct inaccurate personal information;
- opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information;

11. Browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
Some browsers provide a “Do Not Track” (“DNT”) setting.
Because there is not a single universally accepted technical standard governing DNT signals, our Services may not respond to traditional DNT signals in all circumstances.
However, where applicable privacy law requires recognition of a legally valid opt-out preference signal, such as Global Privacy Control, we will process the signal as required by law.
Third-party analytics or advertising providers may collect information about activity on our website and, depending on their technologies, activity across other websites or services.
Your cookie and privacy-control options may limit certain forms of this collection.
12. Security
We maintain administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, destruction, loss, alteration, or disclosure.
However, no internet transmission, email system, website, or data storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
You are responsible for maintaining control of the email account associated with your ForgeTag account and for protecting any verification codes or credentials you receive.
If you believe your account or personal information has been compromised, contact us promptly.
13. Children’s Privacy
ForgeTag is not directed to children under 13 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through the Services without legally required parental authorization.
If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 in circumstances requiring parental consent and such consent was not obtained, we will take reasonable steps to delete the information as required by law.

14. Third-Party Websites and Services
Our websites may link to websites or services operated by third parties.
Those third parties have their own privacy practices, and this Privacy Policy does not govern their independent collection or use of information.
We encourage you to review their privacy notices before providing them with personal information.
15. International Use
ForgeTag may be accessible from countries outside the United States.
Forge Life LLC is based in the United States, and information collected through the Services may be processed and stored in the United States or other countries where we or our service providers operate.
If you use the Services from outside the United States, applicable local privacy laws may provide additional rights.
16. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our Services, technology, legal requirements, or privacy practices.
When we update it, we will revise the effective date above.
If changes materially affect how we use personal information, we may provide additional notice or obtain consent where required by law.
